Dieter Otto Horns!

Genghis Barbie is thrilled to announce a partnership with Martin Ecker of Dieter Otto Horns! Check out Martin's work here.

We met Martin at IHS 43 in San Francisco where we tried out a lot of different instruments. We all fell in love with his work and Dieter Otto is now the official horn of Genghis Barbie! We've also worked closely with Martin to design unique GB valve caps and a Special Edition Genghis Barbie Bell Flare which can be made to fit any horn make or model! It features the Sterling Silver GB logo and a colored lacquer of your choice on the inside of the bell. These are serious show-stoppers! 


Dieter Otto horns and bell flares are available in the U.S. through Siegfried's Call in Beacon, NY. Just contact our good friend Scott Bacon and he will give you all the details! 

Our horns are also equipped with the incredible Joy Key, an innovative self-emptying water system! 

We currently play two 180k model and two 201 model double horns.

After a long summer and the exciting new addition of Electric Barbie, GB has our first live show of the season in NYC! We will be the musical guest at the exciting variety show Hot Tub Show with Kurt Braunohler and Kristin Schall (Flight of the Conchords)!

Genghis Barbie Introduces NEW member!

It's the moment you've all been waiting for! Genghis Barbie is proud to welcome our newest member:

Electric Barbie!!


 

Kelly Csillam Misko, aka Electric Barbie, received her Bachelors of Music from The Juilliard School with Jerome Ashby and Julie Landsman and is currently finishing her Masters of Music degree at Juilliard with Ms. Landsman. She appeared as a soloist at the world premiere and podcast of Douglas Townsend’s Chamber Concerto No. 3 and with the Musica Bella Orchestra performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1. In 2009 she was named the principal horn player of the New York String Orchestra. She has performed alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic, and has also appeared with the Long Island Philharmonic, the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Kelly premiered Eric Ewazen’s Bachauer Fanfare on radio station WQXR with the Vandalay Brass Quintet and performed with the American Brass Quintet as part of its 50th year anniversary concert. Also a talented composer, she was recently commissioned by the Arcadian Winds to write a chamber work called Trinity.


We're thrilled to welcome Kelly into the group and we look forward to our exciting 2011-12 season!
